Call for exhibits for ‘work-in-progress’ sessions - BLIP @ Newlyn Art Gallery

BLIP @ Newlyn invites submissions from local / regional artists to participate in the event.

26th to 30th October 2004

Blip is a forum for artists, scientists and members of the public interested in new forms of art that explore generative and procedural processes, interaction, emergence and artificial life. It aims to develop the relationship between scientific enquiry and artistic practice and stimulate new critical debate about this emerging cultural hybrid.
BLIP events have been held in Brighton for the last 3 years and have been a great success.
We are now developing an arts - science platform in the Southwest through new collaborations with artists and scientists working in the region, and with the support of our partners Falmouth College of Arts, and the Newlyn Art Gallery.
Blip @ Newlyn Art Gallery will run for 5 days and will give artists, scientists, and members of the public the opportunity to see internationally acclaimed projects from the arts - science field, and also take part in discussions, debates and workshops.
Integral to BLIP events are ‘work-in-progress’ sessions. At WIP sessions we invite local artists / scientists to show current projects. Work may be at any stage of development, whether initial ideas or complete realisations. The emphasis is on encouraging new work, and stimulating the development of ideas.
Previous WIPS have included: single and multi-screen video projections, interactive installations, robot demonstrations, 3D immersive environments, and generative / evolutionary art.
