South West Tourism has received a number of emails from their members asking for information on how other members could be able to offer support for the people of Boscastle. Following those calls they have also received information regarding an appeal that has been launched by North Cornwall DC and the Red Cross in order to assist the people of Boscastle.
<br />
<br />
The appeal is to set up a fund, the purpose of which will be to relieve distress caused by the flooding disaster of North Cornwall of 2004 and to assist persons who have suffered loss which has arisen as a result of the disaster including their families and dependants as the trustees think fit. The fund will also be used to restore and re-build the communities that have been significantly affected by the disaster. This fund will not initially be a charity but the issue of applying for charitable status will be explored in due course. Any surplus funds will be applied for such charitable purposes as the trustees think most appropriate. The Fund kicks off with £10,000 donation from the British Red Cross.

<br />
People can donate to the appeal by calling 0870 163 3823 or by writing to North Cornwall Flood Appeal, C/O British Red Cross, Rotherham S98 1ZA. Cheques should be made payable to : North Cornwall Flood Appeal (BRCS account). Further information and updates on the situation can be found on http://www.ncdc.gov.uk.
