The BFI is to run a distance learning course for a Postgraduate Certificate in Film Journalism, starting in January 2005.
This new course offers an opportunity for people aspiring to work in film journalism and those already in this field who wish to enhance their skills, knowledge and understanding. It will cover writing film reviews, proof-reading and editing copy, researching articles, conducting interviews and pitching to publications.
The fourth-month course will involve practical exercises and tutorials, with a 2 day seminar based in London. Tutors and seminar leaders include prominent editors and writers from national magazines and newspapers, with the course team drawn from Sight and Sound magazine and the bfi Education Department.
